When people hear about psychedelics or consider ingesting any sort of hallucinogenic substance, they immediately become hesitant or uncomfortable. However, the public outcry and scrutiny that all recreational drugs face doesn’t apply to the practice of microdosing.
Defined as the controlled use of roughly one-tenth the normal dose of a given psychedelic drug, microdosing can help alleviate overwhelming feelings of stress that many of us feel, nurture creativity and boost performance. Microdosing is subdued and controlled, providing a general sense of wellbeing and myriad of benefits for high-performing professionals without the risks typically associated with regular doses. Any effect is just under the consciousness level and barely noticeable. Think of it as akin to cleaning out memory banks, a system defrag on the computer or recharging batteries.
But in order to optimize the benefits of microdosing, it’s imperative to adjust your diet by avoiding or vastly reducing the consumption of alcohol or caffeine, both of which will disrupt the rhythm of both the mind and body movements. They can easily interfere with the aim of living in the present that microdosing offers. It also helps to take off several days to be able to fully understand and feel the impact of microdosing, as well as achieve a highly creative state.
There’s plenty of research available now surrounding microdosing with very little, if any, evidence of negative effects when following established and known protocols. In an increasingly chaotic world with mounting pressures on both work and life, microdosing offers a respite and vehicle for rejuvenating mind, body and spirit.
