Sir Paul McCartney has had an amazing life. The former Beatle is now a grandfather who turns 80 this Saturday, June 18. He’s been touring and recording over six decades. Our company just helped put together an event where he headlined a show a massive show, and now he’s back on tour at full force. What is his secret? Sir Paul has developed an impressive daily rhythm and routine that dates back to the 1960s despite being a mega-rock star, which we all know isn’t the healthiest lifestyle.
He was a key player in bringing Transcendental Meditation to the forefront during his time with The Beatles. But he also became a vegetarian with his late first wife Linda at a time when that lifestyle choice was considered really far out, to use the language of that era. He created this thing called Meatless Mondays. In addition, he has continued to sing, play the bass, write songs and be creative as he enters his eighth decade – finding new ways to enhance and deepen his art. He credits his longevity to a healthy lifestyle that has enabled him to perform at such a high level for so many years.
The rhythm of his daily life and routine includes meditation, walks, writing songs and playing instruments at specific times of the day – even when he’s on tour. It’s rare that people have schedules like Paul McCartney, but as busy as he is, he still manages to follow a healthy routine. When you combine all those different elements amid the backdrop of doing someone you truly love, it becomes easy to see how someone can work until 80 years old. We should all be so lucky!
